I don’t know about you, but when I think about the Mediterranean, my mind immediately goes to a tall, tanned, gorgeous man (specifically Kostas from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants). There’s just something in the water in Southern Europe, or rather, something in the food.
If you’re looking for a heart-healthy meal plan, the Mediterranean diet hits the nail on the head. It emphasizes plant-based foods like fruits, veggies, and whole grains; herbs and spices to season food; fish and poultry; and replacing butter with healthy fats like olive oil.
