How to Dress for Winter like a French Girl

Dressing in the winter can be such a slog. I usually look like someone in a sleeping bag who woke up and forgot to unzip themselves and instead just went about their day. At least it’s cozy, amiright. But what about the times when you want to look a liiiiiiitle more pulled together, but don’t want to legit freeze all your extremities off. Take a cue from our fashionable Parisian friends and layer the heck up in luxurious fabrics in classic neutrals for a winter look that pops.

For top layers, think less “puffy” and more “layered”

For the more frigid early winter months, where leaving the house feels like an excursion in the arctic (“I didn’t sign up for this!”), layer up — try adding a topcoat over a belted oversize blazer — to keep cozy while still looking like you may have just wandered out of a tucked-away wine bar in the 3rd arrondissement.

Pair neutrals with pops of rich color like oxblood, ochre, and rich emerald.

Invest in beautiful, long-lasting, neutral basics that can be remixed endlessly all winter long and then elevate each look with rich, unexpected textures like satin, wool, and cashmere.

Spice everything up with pops of pattern, color, texture, and shape. It all ~elevates~ the pieces you already have for a look that’s bold yet versatile.
