Picking travel shoes can be a tricky endeavor. On one hand, you’ll be walking miles upon miles, and will want something comfy and durable. On the other hand, you’ll likely be taking lots of photos, and would prefer not to have a pair of bulky, orthopedic sneakers featured in every shot.
Lucky for us, there are so many great travel shoe options today. With the rise of athleisure (halleluiah!), in addition to designers taking into account comfort along with style, the travel shoe options are limitless. These eight are our favorite.
M. Gemi Moccasins

The M. Gemi’s mocassin is a beautiful Italian shoe that checks boxes when it comes to both comfort and style. The shoes are handmade with the utmost of attention to detail. Made of buttery, tumbled leather, the moccasins are meant to mold to your foot to ensure a perfect fit.
All Birds

Self-proclaimed to be the “world’s most comfortable shoe,” how could a pair of these not make the list? These kicks, made of merino wool, are breathable, comfortable, and lightweight—three musts when it comes to a travel shoe. The insoles are plush, and they’re suitable in both warm and cold weather. What more could you want?
New Balance Sneakers

This women’s version of New Balance’s 620 sneaker is athleisure at its finest. Easily one of the comfiest shoes in our lineup, these offer great support and are a good pick for ladies that love exploring a new city on foot. Bonus: Even though they’re sneakers, they’re stylish enough to wear without feeling self-conscious.
Soludos

Perfect for a beach trip or a warm weather getaway, Soludos are easily packable, comfortable, and lightweight. Like traditional espadrilles, the sole of the shoe is made of rope. The company has done a number of collaborations with other designers—all the prints and styles are funky and unique. If you’re more of a neutral gal, rest assured there are plenty of classic prints as well.
Tretorn Tournaments

Tretorns are a classic tennis shoe, and you’ll find many fun takes on the classic Tournament model. The classic white pair is understated and beautiful while the interior is breathable and moisture wicking. In addition to this style, Tretorn offers a number of other travel friendly options (many of which are under $100!).
Tieks

These win in our book for taking up the absolute least amount of space in a suitcase. While these may not be supportive enough to wear day in and day out while traveling, you can’t beat the size. They fold up and fit into a teeny-tiny bag leaving lots of room in your bag for other essentials. Tip: We recommend stashing them in your bag while traveling to slip on for dinner or drinks when you’re ready to ditch the tennis shoes.
Dr Scholl’s Slip-On Sneaker

We know, we know! Dr. Scholl’s isn’t typically a brand we associate with cute travel shoes, but this pair defies the stereotype. Their slip-on sneaker is a neutral, simple shoe you can easily pair with just about any outfit. They also house a memory foam insole that your feet will thank you for.
Sam Edelman Booties

Winter travel tends to complicate footwear choices (will these boots fit in my bag? Will these flats be warm enough?), but the Sam Edelman Bootie is the perfect answer. The small heel dresses them up without compromising on comfort.
