The Women Have Taken Over Game of Thrones (and We Can’t Get Enough)

Game of Thrones season is BY FAR my favorite time of the year. After what felt like the longest hiatus in TV history, suddenly everything revolves around Sunday evening again.

The best part about Season 7 so far? The women are on top and undoubtably stealing the spotlight. Here are my favorite girl power moments from the season premiere.

1. THAT 👏 OPENING 👏 SCENE

I mean, no words can do it justice.

2. Meera is still dragging Bran.

Okay, so this only lasted a total of 10 seconds, but I really don’t feel like she has gotten enough credit for dragging his body around in snow for two seasons. I get winded going up the stairs (reason #5,064 I wouldn’t survive winter), so shoutout to Meera.

3. Lyanna Mormont reminds us all she is still the best character.

“I don’t plan on knitting by the fire while men fight for me. I might be small, Lord Glover, and I might be a girl, but I am every bit as much a Northerner as you. And I don’t need your permission to defend the North.”

I’m almost afraid to like her too much because then HBO will kill her.

4. Sansa found her voice and it’s time to listen up.

If I said I wasn’t already having anxious nightmares about the impending Jon and Sansa throwdown, I would be lying to you.

This is the first time in a while where Sansa starts the season on top. Her opinion is going to be heard, and she isn’t afraid to stand up to Jon (or anyone else). Standing up to him in front of all the Northern houses shows just how much she plans on letting her voice be heard. Should they have these fights behind closed doors? Probably. But it’s obvious she won’t be backing down until Jon starts valuing her opinion.

5. Cersei has no friends and she gives zero f*cks about it.

Update: Cersei is still terrifying. I mean, is anyone really surprised? She’s got no kids left and isn’t going down without a fight. This season, she’s going to remind us just how evil she is. Frankly, she is (and always has been) the ultimate GOT villain.

I hate her… but no one can deny just how badass she is. Especially when she turns down Euron’s proposal because the last thing she wants is another husband to steal her power. (Side note: Did anyone else notice he was dressed like a 1995 heavy metal band member slash Pacey Witter?)

6. Dany is finally home!

Dany > everything. We’ve been waiting for this for SO LONG, yet the real battle hasn’t even started. If this first episode is any indication, Dany and Arya are going to be making us jump out of our seats all season.
