After a summer filled with family vacations, bachelorette parties, and weddings, get back outdoors with a quiet, rejuvenating trip to Yellowstone National Park. The crowds in the park are minimal in the fall, so your views of the landscape and the wildlife will be unobstructed. Spend the days outdoors exploring, then retreat back to Lake Yellowstone Hotel for a cozy night around one of their many fireplaces.

Like Paris, you’re more likely to get a great deal on a flight to Ireland in early fall. October and November are rainier months in Dublin, but the landscape is at its most green and flush. As long as you’re prepared with a pair of waterproof boots, the views of the countryside are unparalleled (Blackrock Castle is one of our favorites). Stay downtown to escape the fog at a local bar and enjoy local music and beer. Time your visit with the end of October to attend four days of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival in town.
7. Woodstock, Vermont

Woodstock’s small downtown its right on the Ottauquechee River and the streets are lined with beautiful colonial buildings. The town’s adorable boutique hotels provide guests with easy access to downtown and perfect amenities for cooler fall nights; after a day outdoors, cozy up next to a private fireplace at the Woodstock Inn or take a dip in the hot tub at The Shire.

Denver has quickly become a hipster favorite for their dog-friendly microbreweries, ski resorts, and live music scene. Come fall, the mountains begin to open to welcome skiers and snowboarders, but in town temperatures are still in the 50s. The weather is the best of both worlds to spend one day on the slopes and another in town. Visit the revamped early 1900s Union Station, which is home to a dozen new restaurants and bars.
